Ugly in-game brawl at Churchill tonight. Large part of Blake team and bench (and coaches) rush across court after fight breaks out between 2 players. At least one Blake coach appears to have punched a Churchill parent. Refs needed to have better control of this one. Repercussions will be interesting. I don't have a dog in the hunt but from the video I saw, #5 from Churchill instigated the whole thing with a premeditated assault. What happened after that is hard to tell but I'd imagine plenty of cell phones and other witnesses to sort it out. To me #5 needs to be suspended for the rest of the season and if anyone else on either team was involved in exacerbating the situation, they need to go as well. Perhaps criminal charges should be brought if an adult participated. There is a lot of he said/she said this am. Believe half of what you read here and elsewhere. Everybody trying to get the high moral ground in situation that gives a huge black eye to MOCO. Both schools should be ashamed to have participated in this mess. I hope Jeff Sullivan lowers the boom on all those responsible. Send a message - this won't be tolerated!

That’s a bad look for moco basketball. Is there a standard disciplinary action for a player who leaves the bench for a fight?

Nice to see the Churchill players staying on the bench. Did all those Blake players attack one Churchill player? Not in my day, no sir, would we allow a whole team to go after one player.

My understanding is it’s an auto 1 game suspension if you leave the bench (at minimum). The initial fighters probably looking at 2-3 games each (based on the instagram apology I saw from the Churchill player). Some of Blake’s coaches may have more serious repercussions but I don’t know any details.
I do know the Churchill coaches yelled at their players to stay on the bench right away. Blumenthal was out this game so it was the assistants.
Still, bad look for all involved.
